Guys and Ladies-

A new officiating year is fast approaching. The officiating registration process starts this Friday on August 1, 2008. Officials registered last year will receive a registration reminder card from Colorado in the mail shortly. Attached is the notification for this year's ice hockey seminar to be held at the Hockeyplex in Lafayette, LA on September 6th. Also, directions are included for you to begin the registration process by starting the Acxiom background check. This is a mandatory requirement for everyone 18 yrs and older for the entire SE District including the coaches, so don't feel like we are being singled out. If anyone has lived in Canada or NY in the last seven years, that Country/State will charge an extra fee above the $22 charge from the Acxiom company. The screening is looking for individuals that USA Hockey will not allow contact with youth aged kids. Some of you who wish to certify as an official, may have been screened as coaches, and this can be transferred into the district officiating ranks. The Hockeyplex has informed me they wish to startup a new adult league under USA registration requirements and to expand the youth league and will be looking for more officials. If anyone knows of interested individuals for this seminar that I don't have an e-mail for, please forward this on to them. For those of you that are wondering about the collegiate ACHA games this year, I have not received any information from that league, but I believe they will still want higher level officials and you should consider certifying higher than level 1 if that is available to you.
